Have you ever sat binge watching Netflix while your mind wanders, dreaming of things you wish you had time to do? If not, I understand, especially if you were watching Bridgerton. Believe me, I was 100% focused on Daphne and the Duke. But, if like me, you’ve binge watched your way through 2020, you may have found yourself parked in front of the screen, halfway paying attention, while you dream.
That’s where I found myself the last two weeks of 2020. Snuggled into my favorite corner of my cushy couch, petting my curly q dog, binge watching Netflix and thinking about how I’d love to spend more of my time writing.
I’d love to tell you that the quarantine of 2020 inspired this thought. It didn’t. I have the same thought every year. I love writing, so much so that I wrote myself through college to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
You may have heard, but companies aren’t banging down their doors to hire English majors. It ranks right at the bottom with Art degrees. Much to the pleasure of my family, I didn’t end up a desolate starving artist. My degree landed me a pretty sweet corporate job. A job I love, but comes with all the trappings of Corporate America – meetings, emails, messages and meetings. What it doesn’t come with is extra time for writing.
This year, unlike other years, I’ve decided to actually do more than just think about it by starting this blog. A place where I can capture stories that inspire me and that I hope, at the very least, provide you some entertainment.
We’ll get to know each other more over the coming weeks and months. In the meantime, welcome to TJ Adventures. I’m Tyler Jacobs. An ordinary Mom, Corporate America professional and friend who occasionally is privileged enough to experience the extraordinary and who finally got up enough courage to break the fourth wall between myself and the world.
